This course trains participants to become a certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.
PLEASE NOTE: Participants who do not pass the pre-requisite swim test will not be provided with a refund. Participants are also required to attend all days and all hours of class to be eligible for certification. Students must be at least 16 years of age before the final scheduled session (proof required).
The swim test will be held on the first day of class. Skills must be demonstrated at the proficiency of the Level 4 Stroke Performance Charts.
- 25 yards front crawl
- 25 yards back crawl
- 25 yards breaststroke
- 25 yards elementary backstroke
- 25 yards side stroke
- 15 yards butterfly
- Tread water for 1 minute
- Maintain position on back 1 minute in deep water (floating or sculling)
This course is taught in the blended learning format. Participants will be expected to complete the online training portion of the class prior to the first day of class. Once registered, information for accessing the online course will be emailed to the student. There is an additional fee of $35 paid directly to the Red Cross for the online training.
