Luke Miska - General Manager
Luke has been in the business practically his whole life, and has extensive experience running fitness centers, handling responsibility for finances and operations, and most recently, coming from the YMCA where he led the sales and membership team. He's energetic, organized and has the drive to succeed. Luke currently lives in Minnetrista with his wife and 2 boys.
Liz Tromborg - Aquatics Director
Liz Tromborg has recently accepted the position of Aquatics Director here at Safari Island, transitioning from her roles on staff as a Water Safety Instructor and Head Lifeguard. Liz joined the Safari Island staff last November and has enjoyed the friendly atmosphere while working part time to cover lifeguarding shifts. She has also spent significant time teaching group and private lessons and specifically enjoys working with children with special needs. Liz holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from South Dakota State University, as well as minors in Business and Equine Management. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge in the aquatics industry; she has held many different roles since she began in the industry in 2006.Prior to coming to Safari Island, Liz has been the Aquatics Director for the City of Glencoe for the past three years, has run a private swimming lessons business in Glencoe for 4 years, coached for the Hutchinson High Tides,Hutchinson Tiger sharks, the Girl Scouts, and the GSL Whitecaps. Liz is excited to use her leadership attributes to assist in developing and growing the staff at Safari Island. She will strive to deliver consistent, open communication with staff and patrons in a“lead-by-example” fashion. When Liz is not at Safari Island, she spends time working part time at a local group home assisting adults with disabilities. Liz currently lives in Glencoe and enjoys taking her dog, Sandy, on walks around town. She also enjoys attending social events with her boyfriend and looks forward to moving back onto her family’s farm in the future.
Sara Weidemann - Fitness Director
Sara graduated from Minnesota State University – Mankato with a B.S. in Sports Management with minors in Business, Coaching and Corporate & Community Fitness. She holds certifications in Personal Training, Group Fitness, Yoga, Kettlebells, PiYo, Pilates, SilverSneakers and Spinning. Sara strongly believes in the necessity for an active lifestyle, encompassing a balance of all the components of fitness. She tries to help clients achieve a balanced lifestyle that encompasses all dimensions of health & wellness. Before accepting the Fitness Director position, Sara worked for HealthFitness Corporation for six years and was a Health Fitness Professional and Assistant Program Manager at the 3M site in St. Paul and eventually was promoted to Program Manager at Boston Scientific in Maple Grove! She is excited to be back in the community setting!
Alejandro Mendoza – Facility Coordinator
Alejandro graduated from Bemidji State University with a B.A. in Sport Management and Coventry University with a M.S. in Sport Management. Alejandro comes to Safari Island with background in fitness and athletic facilities similar to ours. He believes in living an active and healthy life style, which is one of the reasons he chose to make a career in this area. Alejandro enjoys the atmosphere that Safari Island provides and the chance to work with local community member’s on a daily basis.
