Everyone can use a little help with exercise sometimes —whether you’re just starting out or you’re a honed athlete. Our personal trainers will listen to your unique needs, bring new ideas to challenge your mind and body, and help you obtain the results you desire.

Steps to setting up your FREE session:

  1. Fill out our Exercise Readiness Questionnaire and if needed, the Medical Clearance Form
  2. Call or e-mail Fitness Director, Sara Weidemann at sweidemann@waconia.org or 952-769-7950. The forms above have to be filled out and presented to the trainer before your session.

Meet our Trainers

Sara Weidemann - Fitness Director
Sara graduated from Minnesota State University – Mankato with a B.S. in Sports Management with minors in Business, Coaching and Corporate & Community Fitness. She holds certifications in Personal Training, Group Fitness, Yoga, Kettlebells, PiYo, Pilates, SilverSneakers and Spinning. Sara strongly believes in the necessity for an active lifestyle, encompassing a balance of all the components of fitness. She tries to help clients achieve a balanced lifestyle that encompasses all dimensions of health & wellness. Before accepting the Fitness Director position, Sara worked for HealthFitness Corporation for six years and was a Health Fitness Professional and Assistant Program Manager at the 3M site in St. Paul and eventually was promoted to Program Manager at Boston Scientific in Maple Grove! She is excited to be back in the community setting!

Jen Mielke - Personal Trainer 
Jen is a certified personal training through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). She also has been a certified group instructor for 14 years through the National Exercise Trainer’s Association (NETA). Her specialties are Pilates, Silver Sneakers/Active Older Adults, Strength Training, KickBoxing, Cycle, Bootcamp, and Mindful Movements. Jen really enjoys working with people of all ages: young adults up to the young at heart! Her favorite part of working with people is seeing each client’s progression to becoming healthier and reaching their goals so they can live a better life! Jen leads our Iron Fit speciality training as well as the TRX Training and Pilates speciality classes!

Shannon Turek - Personal Trainer
Shannon is certified in Personal Training and a Group Exercise Fitness Instructor through National Exercise Trainer’s Association (NETA). Shannon specializes in Kickboxing, Bootcamp, Strength Training, HIIT, and working with moms! Shannon really enjoys working with all ages and fitness levels, but is especially passionate about helping moms find the time to exercise and prioritize their health. Shannon loves helping people realize their potential and what they are capable of doing!

Emily Birdsall - Personal Trainer
Emily is certified in Personal Training through National Exercise Trainer's Association (NETA) and is also a RRCA Running Coach.  Emily's passion is helping others achieve their fitness goals, whether it's competing in a race or feeling fit and confident to tackle any of life's adventures.  Emily focuses on mobility and strength for creating a balanced and active lifestyle.  In a small group or one-on-one, Emily will help you get to where you want to be.



Michael Natt - Personal Trainer
Michael is a certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).  He also has NASM certifications in Corrective Exercise, Sports Performance and Behavior Change and a Senior Fitness Specialty certification through the National Exercise Trainer's Association (NETA).  Michael earned a Master's Degree in Human Resource Development from the University of St. Thomas and works with people to integrate their fitness goals with their life goals.  Michael has been active in various forms of group fitness and distance running for 30 years.  He has completed 15 marathons and 60 half-marathons.  His mission statement is to help people become the best version of who they are.  He is eager to share his knowledge and passion for health and fitness with others.
