Register online at www.safariislandcommunitycenter.com/aquatics or visit Safari Island at 1600 Community Drive, Waconia, MN 55387. Adapted lessons are taught using a progressive curriculum designed for optimal growth and confidence.
Class Level and Progression
Adapted Parent-Child Introductory Class
*Ages 0-17 with parent or guardian*
This class focuses on water orientation and is designed for children who may have an increased difficulty engaging in a group lesson.
Adapted Level I
Water Comfort and Safety Level: Ages 5-17
This class focuses on basic sequencing of skills, floating, submersions, and kicking. This class is designed for children who are able to participate in a group lesson without a parent or guardian in the water. This class incorporates games that introduce the fundamentals of skills such as breath control, submersion, blowing bubbles, and assisted kicking and floating.
Adapted Level II
Water Confidence and Independence Level: Ages 5-17
This class focuses on the accumulation of skills learned in Level I and adds elements of propulsion, utilizing arms, and breathing in the water. Children will be introduced to arm/leg action, rhythmic breathing, and will swim further distances, both with assistance and independently.
